Nguyen Ngoc Minh Thao, who graduated from APU in the 2017-2018 school year, has just excelled in the Dean’s List of the University of Illinois at Chicago – Top 25 public universities in the US (Times Higher Education, 2018)

Before joining APU American International School Danang, Minh Thao (Cecilia) had spent her time studying in the US. However, concerning that she was not fully ready to study abroad at that time, Thao decided to return to Vietnam to seek balance and be better prepared for her studies in the future. After careful consideration and research, Thao and her family chose APU because of its advantages and the similarity of study programs at APU and schools in the United States.

After graduating from APU, Minh Thao spent half a year studying at the American University in Vietnam – AUV and transferred to the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). This is the time, according to Thao, “is an important transition step” to help Thao confidently prepare for her journey to study in the US and is a prerequisite for her to gain success in pursuing the program at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

“I am most impressed that the students at APU are all excellent in their very own way. Each student is facilitated and supported to develop their talents because APU’s learning and learning environment orient students to develop themselves following their abilities and desires. There is no imposition on the student at APU.” Thao happily shared. Therefore, the credits I have accumulated at APU, the American University in Vietnam – AUV, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City were accepted and transferred directly to the University of Illinois at Chicago which saves me much time and financial cost. Above all, I have had wonderful experiences at APU which awakens my passion, brings many opportunities to pursue my dreams”.

APU hopes that Thao will have more success in the future when pursuing her passion at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
