Earning the prestigious title of Valedictorian for the Class of 2025 at APU American International Schools, Mai Lê Khánh Hưng (David) has once again affirmed his outstanding academic spirit and continued the proud legacy of a family deeply connected to the APU community.
Having studied at APU since elementary school, David has consistently stood out not only for his exceptional academic performance but also for his strong sense of responsibility and positive character across all areas of school life. He has been awarded an impressive total of over USD 550,000 in scholarships (equivalent to VND 13.8 billion) from top-tier U.S. universities with comprehensive partnership agreements with APU, including San Diego State University (SDSU), Central Michigan University (CMU), Arizona State University (ASU), University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC), and others.
In particular, David was honored to receive the International Merit Admission Award Scholarship worth USD 50,000 from the University of Toronto – Canada’s top-ranked university and one of the Top 20 universities worldwide, highly regarded for its excellence in Business, Technology, and Academic Research.
David is the second of three siblings currently enrolled at APU – a powerful testament to the family's trust in and strong connection with the school. Notably, his older brother, Mai Lê Khánh Trình, Valedictorian of the Class of 2021, is currently pursuing his studies at Arizona State University (ASU) with a scholarship granted through the APU–ASU partnership. The continued success of both brothers is a source of pride not only for their family but also for the entire APU community.
Beyond his academic achievements, David has been an active participant in a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports, the arts, and community service events. He shared:
“APU is not just a place where I learn knowledge – it’s where I’ve learned how to be a person. From kindness and responsibility to leadership and service, this school has shaped who I am today.”
During his Valedictorian address, David expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Thy Binh, Founder and Superintendent of APU American International Schools:
“Thank you, Dr. Binh, for building not just a school, but a community where students like me can learn, grow, and become the best version of ourselves. It is because of the nurturing and supportive environment you created that I’ve been able to come this far.”
With confidence, compassion, and a strong international education from APU, David is certain to continue shining and making a meaningful impact on his journey into the global academic world.
