NGUYEN HUYEN TRAN

Nguyen Huyen Tran, APU Salutatorian of the class 2008 with a 4.0 GPA, has a long list of achievements at prestigious American universities and has become a role model for many generations of APU students. Huyen Tran was the only Asian student to receive a full scholarship to study at Central Washington University in 2008. She may be petite, but she is incredibly strong. This strength and her continuous efforts in her academic and extracurricular activities led to her graduating Magna Cum Laude from the CWU Dual Bachelor Degree in Finance and Accounting in 2012. Upon reaching this important milestone, she completed a MS in Finance and went on to study Computer Science at Stanford University.

After proving herself as an outstanding student at APU and prestigious American Universities, Nguyen Huyen Tran worked as a Data Specialist for Microsoft and a Junior Auditor and Tax Associate for Novogradac & Company LLP. She also gained extensive accounting experience in her roles for a variety of international companies including Ernst & Young, one of the four largest companies in the world in Auditing and Finance.

When asked how she felt about all the achievements in her academic career, Tran answered “One of the special moments was when I received the Top Student Scholarship Award from Central Washington University and APU International School. This was a remarkable recognition of my efforts. Thanks to the rigorous American curriculum at APU, I had early access to the international environment and became much more confident in my English skills, my problem-solving abilities, my communication, and my interpersonal skills.”

With the solid foundation built by that curriculum, APU will undoubtedly create many more Vietnamese students who become strong global citizens, confidently pursuing their passions like Huyen Tran.
