APU Alumni - Tran Thien Hong Anh, Class of 2013

Renowned for her numerous remarkable achievements during her time at APU, Tran Thien Hong Anh, the Salutatorian of the APU Class of 2013, has successfully graduated as a Doctor of Dentistry from Oregon Health & Science University! Established in 1887, Oregon Health & Science University is a prestigious research institution in the field of medicine located in Portland, Oregon. It ranks among the top 50 universities in the United States according to the 2023 US News ranking.

With her excellent academic record at APU, Hong Anh transferred seamlessly into the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), where she majored in Chemistry & Pre-Dentistry. Although this major can be stressful and requires a large time commitment, Hong Anh still balanced her time between studying and participating in a number of extracurricular activities, most notably serving as Vice President of the UMKC Vietnamese Student Association. In this position, Hong Anh learned much about leadership, communication, and teamwork, all important skills for any student studying abroad.

Following her graduation, Hong Anh continued to pursue her dream of becoming a dentist at Oregon Health & Science University. In addition to studying and research, Hong Anh has spent much of her time serving in social organizations such as Save the Children in Vietnam, Health & Humanitarian Aid, and the Viet Learning Community & Development Center. These activities have given her bravery and confidence, as well as improved her professional skills. Hong Anh expressed deep gratitude to her teachers at APU, as well as her family and friends, who have consistently provided unwavering support and accompanied her on her journey to fulfill her passions and aspirations. She extends special appreciation to Dr. Thy Bình for her continuous care and the opportunities they have provided. As she embarks on her upcoming endeavors, Hong Anh continually reminds herself to pursue personal growth, maintain sincerity and honesty, and consistently provide her patients with the best of her abilities and compassion.

APU takes immense pride in Hong Anh's diligent efforts and the path she is pursuing. Congratulations to Hong Anh once again, and we wish her a truly meaningful journey in her dental profession!
